Castrol Braycote Micronic 601 EF is a smooth, buttery, translucent off-white coloured grease. Based on micronically filtered perfluorinated polyether base oil. (Castrol Brayco 815Z) as the base fluid and a tetrafluoroethylene telomer as the gelling agent.
It is non-flammable, chemically inert and thermally stable and does not use any chlorofluorocarbons during product manufacture. This product exhibits unusually high load-carrying capabilities as measured by the 4-ball EP test and contains a rust and corrosion inhibitor for extra component protection. Braycote Micronic 601 EF is designed to operate in the presence of fuels, oxidisers and in applications of deep space vacuum.
It is used in gears, ball and roller bearings, electrical contacts, and “O” rings. It is frequently used in space applications including the space shuttle and satellites. It should also be considered in any application where a hostile chemical or extreme environmental conditions would preclude the use of an ordinary grease.
This grease is highly recommended for applications where temperature extremes and/or low vacuums are routine, such as cryogenic coolers, FLIR, laser optical systems, or hostile chemical environments. As a perfluorinated grease it exhibits excellent shelf life due to its intrinsic inertness.
